About Dustin

As Marketing Director, Dustin works for Bud Clary Auto Group, a family-owned, third-generation group of 14 franchise dealerships spread across five Washington cities. His 10 years with Bud Clary have taken him across Ford, Chevrolet, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram.

Cars have held his attention since he was a little boy, and he learned to drive a stick shift in a Mercedes-Benz 240D. His high school years ended with a certificate of work readiness, AYES and NATEF certifications, and college credits earned on the way toward an ASE certification.

Anything with an engine is still fair game for his toolbox. These days he drives a Chevy Silverado 1500 on a mid-travel suspension setup, a Nissan 370Z he drifts, and his favorite, an Audi A6 TDI with all-wheel drive and one big single turbo. That diesel is closing in on 200,000 miles, and he has upgraded and swapped its turbo three separate times without outside help. Across every car he has owned, the one job he handed to another mechanic was programming a key fob.

The rule for every guide he puts his name on: say what he would say to a friend who asked.

Dustin and Bud Clary Auburn Hyundai

Bud Clary Auburn Hyundai sits at 2807 Auburn Way N, and its service department is open on weekdays only. Dustin writes this store's guides so Hyundai owners and first-time shoppers from Auburn, Kent, Federal Way and Puyallup can get straight answers on their own time, before they take a morning off work to come in.

Because he keeps his own cars running, the warranty guide focuses on what an owner controls: who holds on to Hyundai's 10-year powertrain coverage after a sale or a lease buyout, what the handbook excludes, and which service records Hyundai expects you to keep.

The anti-theft guide has a key fob at its center, a fitting subject for someone whose only outside repair was programming one. Hyundai's software upgrade for turn-key models arms only when the doors are locked with the fob, so the page lists the 2011 to 2022 models that qualify and explains how to book the free ignition cylinder protector before Hyundai's March 31, 2027 cutoff.

The financing guide is for someone buying a first car on credit. It covers how a first auto loan builds a credit file, how to choose a payment that still leaves room for Washington's required insurance, and what to carry into the finance office on Auburn Way N.
